Celebrating the birthday of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, or anyone’s birthday was not a practice of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, or his Companions. It is indisputably established that acts of worship are to be learned only from the Quran and Sunnah (tradition). It is also established that Sharee‘ah (Islamic ‘Allamah Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah (rahimahullah) states, “As for what the masses say that Yasin and Taha are the names of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), this is not authentic.
